Commissioned at the end of 2022 by CNIM and its partners, the multi-sector cluster will address the energy and environmental problems of the south and west of the island. It will treat the waste of 60% of Reunion's population and produce renewable electricity for more than 10,000 households.Â
This project responds to an environmental emergency by helping to end landfilling. After reaching its total capacity of nearly 8 million tons of waste, Pierrefonds landfill will need to be closed in 2022.
By producing renewable energy and reducing landfill by 90%, this project meets the objectives of the law on energy transition for green growth. This law requires reducing at least 50% of the landfill by 2025.
Challenges
The challenge of this project was accounting for different batches (piping, equipment, civil engineering) and the interfaces for the envelope of the adjacent building carried out by another design office. BIM enabled us to integrate these different lots via IFC models.
Several lots worked in parallel for scheduling reasons and advanced simultaneously while considering the interfaces.
