Eversendai Engineering L.L.C, UAE was awarded 24,000 M Tons of Structural Steel works of ICD Brookfield Place Project in Dubai, UAE.
The scope of Eversendai was to provide Connection Design, Shop Drawings, BIM Coordination, Erection Engineering Study & Stage Analysis, Workshop Fabrication Drawings, Supply, Fabrication, Painting, Fire Proofing, Composite Floor Decking, and Erection of Structural Steel Works. All the above scope of works was completely taken care of by in-house Design & Engineering Department of Eversendai and successfully completed in line with project schedules
The Project Clients are Brookfield Properties & Investment Corporation of Dubai. Project managers are AECOM. The Architect Design by Foster + Partners. Structural Design by Robert Bird Group. Architect of Record is Brewer Smith & Brewer Gulf - Dubai. The main contractor is Brookfield Multiplex & Ssangyong Engineering & Construction JV - Dubai
CHALLENGES & SUCCESS
The ICD Brookfield Place is a 54 story Tower of about 282m high, located in the Dubai International Finance Centre (DIFC), Dubai.
The project consists of 54 story Tower containing over 83,600 m² of office space, 7 levels below ground basement capable of accommodating 2,700 vehicles, adjacent Podium level structures containing five-story 14,000 m² retail centers and a 1,670 m² triangular-shaped five-story high open atrium roof structure called Summer Garden.
The top three floors of the tower are built as “Sky View suites” with internal gardens, featuring 6-meter ceilings. These floors are hung from outrigger steel framing.
The project has been designed to achieve LEED Gold certification.
The Structural steel of Eversenadi Scope of this project is about 24100 MT of Primary steel and about 650 MT of temporary steel for the erection of primary steel.
WHY TEKLA
Considering the complex interface requirements with various special trades, the BIM Implementation and coordination played a vital role in the successful completion of this project. Tekla BIMSight was used extensively to identify the clashes with other trades such as Show Contractors, Theme Contractors for various plays, Architectural & MEP and Interior Contractor. All the clashes were identified prior to start editing the fabrication drawings and successfully resolved with all trades, thus avoiding a lot of rework in fabrication and erection. In this aspect, Tekla Software with its user-friendly platform played a major role in the successful completion of this project on time.
The complex structural connection requirements and the precise BIM coordination requirements make this project as one of the most challenging projects for Eversendai. As always with Eversendai, this project was also successfully modeled and coordinated with all other trades and fabrication drawings were released in line with the project schedule successfully.
