THE PROJECT
The New Visitor centers are 2nos. of Dome made of Glass & steel to provide Access to Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque as General & VIP Entrance. The project started at October-2015 and scheduled to end by May-2016. Affan scope of work to design, fabrication, delivery, and installation of the complete steel, glass & Aluminum composite Panel structure forming the 2 No. domes to the New Visitors Center. The project is mainly Grid shell structure with light steel framing, use of rootlet & customized spider to support glass with special frit pattern [Double glazed Units]

CHALLENGES AND SUCCESS FACTORS
The biggest challenge we had that is to produced Steel node [made of 200~300mm diameter steel pipe with the thickness of 30~40mm] for machining with proper coordination with a site to control dome geometry.

BENEFITS / BIM, TEKLA SOFTWARE, AND TRIMBLE
With Tekla structure, we prepare production drawings with all machining details & export reference geometry lines to prepare macro based IGES file for DMG machine with help of CATIA software. which is very successful when we overlay IGES file back to Tekla Model to check for production.
