Project description
Business Center Tower is a tall building. It consists of 25 overground floors and 3 underground floors. The total height is 125m from the ground level. The purpose of this structure is mixed: service areas, office areas, apartments. The main construction consists of reinforced concrete cylindrical core and a cooperating external framing system. The cross-section of the overground part of the buildingis a regular dodecagon. This solution provides a more streamlined shape, which results in better aerodynamics of the building.
The foundation was designed as a 2-meter high slab connected with slurry walls, which protect the underground part of the building. Columns and beams of the external framing system are made of R.C. on the first 20 floors. In order to reduce the weight of the building, the last five stories have steel columns and beams. On the 20th floor there is an observation deck - reinforced concrete cantilevers fixed in the columns of the external framing, suspended with steel ties to the upper story. The top of the construction is the steel conical 3D truss. Static calculations of the tall building were made with FEM software, then the geometry was transferred to Tekla Structures by IFC file. The most important parts of the construction were detailed and finally the drawings were generated. The project got the highest rate and distinction.
Special challenges
Analyzing two structural conceptions, using wind tunnel, consideration of soil cooperation, complicated static calculation, transferring model from FEM software to Tekla, dealing with a big model, detailing steel and concrete.
What made the project successful
The project was successful because BIM was used during the design process. It reduced the time of creation of the drawing documentation. Moreover, using BIM is an up-to-date solution.
