Construction of a mobile footbridge dedicated to soft mobility. The 80-meter-long footbridge features a world-first two-phase kinematics.
Part of the decking is lowered to allow the central section to roll in, opening up to a width of 25 meters.
This retractable system allows the passage of boats, notably those taking part in the Transat Jacques Vabre.
Challenges to meet
The main difficulties of the project:
- Combining the structure's capacity with a 25m overhang.
- Create a structure that can withstand heavy loads yet is visually compact.
- Invisibly integrating the mechanics to maintain the architectural finesse of the structure.
- The precision demanded by the extremely small operating clearances of this mobile structure
