Fabio Erix project is a precast house with 366 square meters floor area. Four months were spent for architectural and detailing design development. The fabrication of its precast elements was done in one month, and it is planned to be erected in 5 working days. At the moment, the house is ready for delivery at the factory, waiting for the conclusion of foundations at the construction site. Kronan fulfilled the customer’s architectural needs with the use of metallic inserts and hydraulic and electrical systems embedded in the precast elements.
Challenges and success factors
The main challenge faced by Kronan was fulfilling the customer’s high expectation in terms of structural and dimensional complexity, along with complex electric and hydraulic systems, all in a tight time schedule. The materials supply and services orders were integrated with ERP TOTVS system via CSVs reports published from Tekla model. Custom components for rebar detailing and personalized reports were also developed. For the inserts and lifting systems, Kronan had to develop their own macros with the Tekla software.
BIM, Tekla Software and Trimble
With the BIM methodology and Tekla Structures features, all the components were modeled and compatibilized with high precision and details. The material quantitative reports were extracted easily. The 3D models and drawings exported from Tekla were very useful for fabrication purposes, making it easy for workers to understand every detail. In the opinion of the engineers and architects who worked on the project, it wouldn’t be possible to create such a complex precast house without this powerful software. Â
Tekla BIMsight was an essential tool during meetings and discussions, sharing information between all participants and retrieving detailed information of sections, plans and connections from the model.
Project in numbers
366 square meters, 48 wall panels including 4 sandwich walls, 22 rigid slabs, 108 m3 of concrete volume, PEX piping, hydraulic and electrical systems embedded in precast elements.
Kronan is a Brazilian precast producer, specialized in panel walls. Its differentials are the flexible fabrication process that adapts to diverse needs, short construction schedule, good global prices and the use of BIM methodology during project development.
