This multi-story office and retail building in the Napier CBD is 2,200 m2 over three levels. It includes 87 tons of structural steel and 55 precast units including the lift shaft and stairs. Using consultant drawings and IFC models from Revit, the detailer provided steel and precast manufacturing drawings and machine data.
Tekla Structures was used to help overcome the nature of the model, construction methods for New Zealand seismic conditions, and a difficult site. Designers and Consultants IFC models were used in the modeling and coordination of the project which greatly minimized RFIs. External façade steelwork for timber fixing louvres were all coordinated and supplied in the same model.
During detailing, the client had a major design change as there was a car park on the upper level. New models were imported, and detailing alterations took place to change this car park to offices, removing a large concrete ramp. Paint systems for the project were tracked and added to the model, as well as drawings for ordering and application purposes.
