Plot 5 at East Midlands Gateway is part of a new Distribution and Logistics park, connected by Road and by a Strategic Rail Freight Interchange (SRFI) adjacent to East Midlands Airport. it is located in close proximity to Derby, Nottingham, and Leicester, and accessible by Road, Rail and Air. The park has various units comprising of Warehouses, Distribution units, and Fulfilment Centres. MSW UK Ltd was brought in to supply and install the Metal Decking for Plot 5.
Achievements
The project's success relied on addressing various challenges promptly, including quick turnarounds for drawings, comments, RFIs, and last-minute changes. Close collaboration between MSW and Caunton Engineering facilitated optimised drawing updates and minimised queries, saving valuable time. Efficient deliveries, continuous communication, and updates ensured smooth progress, all thanks to the efforts of MSW's dedicated contracts and installation teams.
Using Tekla software
- Automated drawing templates within Tekla Structures expedited the drawing process
- Sharing IFC models electronically improved collaboration among stakeholders
- The use of Trimble Connect enabled trades to review and coordinate effectively through visualising the model and its data
