The Salesforce Tower and Community Plaza Building, located in the heart of Sydney, is currently the city’s tallest commercial tower at 55 stories and 263 meters tall. It is also a flagship commercial development of Sydney Place, located between the iconic Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge.
Redd BIM was engaged directly by Lendlease, the developers and builders of the project, to assist with design development and coordination of all interfacing design and trades.
Redd BIM provided services for steel structure design, connection design, temporary works, façade and climbing screens.
Challenges
One of the key challenges of the project was gaining the full trust of the designers, which included Arup, Foster and Partners, Architectus, and Adjaye Associates. Redd BIM worked closely with Lendlease to ensure that the design for the steel structure was documented with all required fabrication and erection design.
Another challenge was developing and constructing various design and construction methods for the project. This included investigating and developing possible alternative steel formwork systems.
In total, Redd BIM produced approximately 18,000 General Arrangement, Assembly, models and drawings, and over 35,000 individual single part drawings for the project. The company also produced a fully coordinated Tekla steel model that was used to develop and control steel procurement, erection sequencing, lift analysis, fabrication, material traceability, and temp works integration.
Redd BIM’s work on the Salesforce Tower project is a testament to the company’s expertise in Tekla BIM and its ability to deliver complex projects on time and within budget.
