@Soho Place Theatre is the first new-build west end theatre in 50 years and the culmination of a 12 year project, owned by Nica Burns and operated by Nimax Theatres. Delta Fabrications elements of work on the new @Soho Place Theatre included two feature floating helical staircases providing access from ground to level 03 and four levels of drinks shelf balustrades where visitors can gather during pre-show and intervals to enjoy drinks. Both elements included laminated marble glass panels formed in flat, curved and spiral panels to match the complex geometry of the steelwork.
Â
Challenges
The spiralling design, combined with sourcing, curving, and bonding marble slabs, required collaboration with specialist subcontractors in Germany. Moreover, every glass panel had to be illuminated to accentuate the stunning features both internally and externally.
Â
Achievements
The staircases and balustrades stand as defining features of the building, captivating London's public throughout the day. The project's complexity and innovation have attracted attention and admiration from visitors and experts alike.

Using Tekla software
Tekla Structures models played a vital role in the design and detailing process, facilitating the coordination of bracketry, lighting layouts, and wireways. Integration of sprinkler pipework, GRC soffit models, and multiple finishes was achieved through collaboration, ensuring compatibility and adherence to design parameters. The use of BIM allowed for enhanced efficiency, accuracy, and seamless integration of the staircase structures and balustrades into the primary steelwork and façade.
