Theatre rooms
The new theatre will be multi-functional. The rooms should get the function of culture combined with nature. This means that in the zoo there should be room for theatrical activities and in the theatre there should be room for zoo activities.Â
The new theatre, that will be exploited by Wildlands, offers a wide range of cultural possibilities fitting with 110,000 inhabitants and a catchment area of 250,000 persons. The theatre will have two main rooms: a big room with 800 seats and a multifunctional smaller room with 300 seats or 1,000 pitches. The total surface area is 15,000m2.
Appearance
The appearance of the building is very important. The design of the new theatre and the ‘Wereld van Ontmoeting’, has got allure. The combination of the entrance for the new zoo and the transition to the new center square is unique. Basically, the building will be the size of an football field and the highest point of the building reaches over 30 meters. Because of the size, the waving green roof and the use of natural materials and a lot of glass, the new theatre will become a great remarkable and recognizable eye-catcher for the city of Emmen with a high architectural value.
