The design presents the structure of the roof of the Lublin Metropolitan bus station. The Integrated Transport Centre is the largest investment of the Lublin City local government, as part of which Budimex – the general contractor – will build a new bus station along with the reconstruction of the transport system.
The supplier and the company responsible for the assembly of the impressive steel structure is Mostostal Kraków. What distinguishes the investment most and will be a representative landmark of Lublin is the construction of the station’s roof, weighing approx. 1550 tons and consists of pillars with crowns and trusses filling the space between the so-called “pillar trees.” Both elements, due to their architectural appearance and the high degree of complexity of welded joints, are assembled from very precisely cut and joined elements.
Commissioned by Mostostal Kraków, MTA Engineering’s design office prepared a workshop design of the steel structure along with calculations of the joint connections. All the design work was carried out with the active participation of Mostostal Kraków’s Design and Technical Department. The roof of the station was designed as a spatial structure.
Structural steel columns with a diagonal arrangement of bars were designed to support the roof. A complete 3D model with assembly plans and workshop documentation was prepared in Tekla Structures software.
