Scope:
Structural steel detailing (Main steels, Anchor bolts, embeds, elevator steels, concrete pour stoppers, tie back supports, plate girders, back trusses, roof trusses, theater steels, screen walls supports, monumental stair steels, auditorium framing steels, penthouse) & coordination with other vendors.
Description:
- Project started with bid drawings of 65% set, later, there was continuous revisions, 95% set, 100% Permit set, 100% set(IFC), Bulletin 2, 6, 8, 9.2 & 10
- Project having 5 bars (areas) & each bar is rotated by 22.5 degrees like feeler gauge
- Consists of theater low framing, ground level, theater balcony, floor level 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, roof & penthouse

Highlights of the Job:
- Auto applications of all the shear connections, may be 1200+ connections (Clip angle 141 & 143, Extended & simple shear tab 146 & 185), through in-house built API tool, which helped in the speedy turnaround of the job & meet the schedules
- The connections were not only auto applied but we also auto validated the connection parameters through in-house API tool
- Since steel is a heavy material & the building had rotation of 22.5 degrees, the steel had to bear heavy loads up to 1210 & 2185K at couple of locations which made the connection design & connections more complex
- The steel used had to be skewed at corner rotation of building & made sure 100% error free of erection issues
- Concrete pour stoppers are complex at corners due to skew/rotation of each area
- Day to day revisions, continuous revisions in this job. Overall project revision changes went up to 2 times more than the initial project estimate.
- Adjust to the priority changes based on the requirements
- Project management in Tekla, for generating the various status reports/logs for holds, fab released, drawing revisions, history, RFI’s, void list, ABM’s which is linked to each of the member
- Use of BIM model for architectural & structural
- Detailing the corner embeds where steel is connecting to elevator walls including the shop welded rebars with rebar couplers & reinforcement bars
- Connections are complex especially in trusses & plate girders
- Detailed around 17 trusses & approximate tonnage of each truss is about 10 to 25
