Tekla NUS Student Challenge 2022

On 7 November 2022, Dr Thomas Phang, Area Director, Trimble South East Asia welcomed all in attendance. The judges of the challenge include Er Goh from Rankine & Hill and Daniels Chandra from Ong & Ong Group.

This year is the 5th round of the Tekla NUS Student Challenge. Students are tasked to demonstrate the skills they have learnt in Building Information Modelling to propose a suitable architectural and structural design of a stadium roof project. The structural design is modeled using Tekla Structures and analyzed by Tekla Structural Designer.

The groups demonstrated key competencies in areas such as being innovative, sustainable design, landscaping, facilities and cost effective design. This challenge allows the students to have a grasp of what is possible in the real world. Creative architecture might be aesthetically pleasing but they also have to take into consideration if it is structurally stable.

They also shared their experience of using Tekla Structural Designer and Tekla Structures. Some of the comments include more efficiency and easy to manage design changes.
