MHA Tribal Headquarters is a multi-building project that will serve as the capital building of MHA Nation (The Mandan, Hidatsa & Arikara Affiliated Tribes). The building design has been created to represent the numerous tribal cultural elements including the importance of the earth shelter. Woodell Detailing provided the steel detailing for Egger Steel who had the steel contract on the project.

Challenges and achievements
Modeling this complex structure in Tekla Structures allowed us to provide a better end product. One example of this were unusual shaped plates that were modeled and exported to DXF files so they could be cut with minimal manual input. Another issue on this project was there were large round HSS shapes that had unusual cuts. Using Tekla allowed us to make wrap around templates for the rounds that the fabricator could use to mark and cut them accurately.Â
