This 3 story building and roof structure is the newest addition to the Trimble family of offices. It was modeled and detailed by 6 different companies with the capabilities of Tekla Model Sharing. The steel detailer, rebar detailer, curtain wall detailer, and joist detailer all added their parts to this model. In addition to these trades, the model created in Tekla Structures was utilized in full BIM coordination of MEP, drywall, fire protection, and interior finishes and HVAC.
The numbers on this project are quite impressive. The steel portion of the building consisted of roughly 700 tons with over 16,000 parts, over 2000 shop and erection drawings as well as 8 different sequences. With all of this steel and other materials, being able to communicate truly constructible information between the general and subcontractors proved to be a real benefit to the project. Additionally, being able to utilize Trimble point cloud technology, enabled project team members to produce as-built surveys. With such a large project, it's impressive that the project team experienced "almost zero shop calls and no field issues".
