2016 North American BIM Awards - Syracuse University Practice Facility
Syracuse University’s Ensley Athletic Center is a stand out facility that enhances its football team’s ability to practice, train and recruit new players. The 87,000 foot facility creates a space where both offensive and defensive units can practice on the field at once and also offers an indoor hub where the team can start spring practices earlier in the year amidst the cold Upstate New York weather.
The building has a 217'-0" clear width inside and is 45'-0" clear at the eaves while also holding a 65'-0" clearance at the ridge.
American Buildings Company's builder invited us to partner with them on a design-build project that they were bidding for Syracuse University. The school needed a facility for its athletic program, especially the football team, to be able to practice indoors.
