RC Beam Torsion Design to ACI318 in Tekla Tedds
The Tekla Tedds RC Beam Torsion Design module checks a solid rectangular section subjected to a combination of direct shear force and torsional moment and determines the quantity of torsional reinforcement required, if any.The calculation first checks the threshold torsion, and if the applied torsion is less than the threshold torsion, no design torsional reinforcement is required. The calculation also examines the interaction check on the capacity of the concrete struts of the section subject to torsion and shear. If this interaction check is greater than 1.0, the section is deemed inadequate and the calculation will stop with no further checks. If the section is adequate and additional reinforcement is required, the additional longitudinal torsional reinforcement and the shear reinforcement is determined.
