Reimagining and celebrating the RAF Hucknall site

HTS Design Services Ltd was approached by a local sign manufacturing company (Spencer Signs, Hull) to provide a 3D model and fabrication package to manufacture a bespoke totem style sign constructed from Corten steel. The sign was placed at the old RAF Hucknall site, which is now a business park development named Harrier Park.

 

Challenges

The leading edges of the wing design were the most challenging aspect when modelling. However, using the lofted plate and direct modification tools within Tekla Structures made this process much easier.

 

Benefits of using Tekla

The curved sections of the wing were made easier with some of the new features within Tekla.

Utilising the lofted plate command made modelling the curved members much more intuitive, and being able to share the BIM model at various stages of the design made the whole process run much smoother than working with traditional 2D drawings.
