The West Music Hall is a two-storey music venue constructed as part of the larger Olympia project. It was built over the existing West Exhibition Hall, which underwent refurbishment in 2011. The main exhibition area's roof was replaced with a new floor to support the music venue above. The Level 2 floor was made up of long span trusses, due to the requirement for minimal columns within the exhibition space below.

Challenges
Coordinating the new structure with the existing building and addressing vibration concerns were major challenges. Point cloud surveys were employed to ensure accurate coordination, and Tekla's 3D modelling capabilities were used to design complicated connection points. Heavy trusses with significant welds and tension controlled bolts were used to mitigate vibration effects.

Achievements
- Successfully integrating the new structure with the existing building and addressing vibration concerns were notable achievements.
- The careful coordination of point cloud surveys and the use of Tekla's 3D modelling capabilities allowed for precise design and efficient erection processes.

Using Tekla software
Tekla Structures enabled efficient coordination of the new structure with the existing building, facilitated detailed analysis of vibration effects, and allowed for accurate 3D modelling of complex connection points. Tekla's API was heavily used for steel validations, ensuring efficient fabrication processes and enhancing overall project efficiency.
