Steps for entering the UK Tekla Awards

1. Prepare the model

In order for your model to be assessed properly, the jury needs your model to be complete. The richer your model, the more insight they can gain into the project. Tekla drawings and other documents such as PDFs all help with this, but the most important issue is to provide the full model.

1. Open your Tekla Structural Designer model.
2. Inside the File menu, go to Save model only. This saves a "core model"

2. Prepare additional material

Remember that good images and videos help to communicate about your project and can have a strong impact on your success in the competition. When you are ready to share your project material (see step 3), there is a field in the form to add a link to any cloud or file sharing service. (e.g. Dropbox, Google Drive or WeTransfer).

Mandatory:

  • High resolution screenshots of the model (Tip: use Tekla Structural Designer built-in screenshot tool to capture a few different full model and model detail images from the project (.PNG file format preferred))
  • Rename your screenshots, give a description of what is being shown


Optional:

  • Video clips from the project: (visualization clips, or any other content relevant for the project to be successful in the competition)
  • High resolution photos or architect visualizations of the project (in any image format, min. 1000 pixels in width/height or more preferred).
  • Sample drawings of the projects (in PDF format)
  • Company logo(s) involved in the project

3. Fill in the form

The BIM story of your project is the most important part of the submission. If you are participating in the competition as a team of multiple project parties/companies, one of the members should collect the project information and fill in the form on behalf of the team. To preview the questions beforehand, see this pdf.

The entry form asks for:

  • A project description
  • The challenges and the success factors
  • The benefits of using BIM and Tekla software
  • The project in numbers

You can save the form and come back to it at any time.
